Enrollment

Is your student ready for online learning?

Before considering a virtual school as your student's replacement for traditional in-person learning, it is recommended that parents complete an online learner readiness rubric. The results of this rubric will show if placing your student in a virtual school will be beneficial and/or augment their learning style. Complete the linked rubric to see how ready your student is for online learning.

2025-2026 DEC Application

Interested in enrolling your student with the
Digital Education Center?

Here's what you need to know.

  1. Parents interested in enrolling a student with the DEC will be placed on a waitlist.  As a slot opens up, we will contact you concerning enrollment of your student.
  2. Should you have questions about the wait list or the enrollment process with the Digital Education Center, we can be reached at 435-833-8710 or you can email online@tooeleschools.org
  3. If your intent is to keep your student at their current junior high or high school and you want your student to take "extra" courses in addition to their class schedule, you can submit a course request for (2) "extra" A-La-Carte online courses via the Digital Education Center.  You do not need to enroll in the Digital Education Center if your student wants to take a la carte classes.

DEC Attendance Policy

Purpose: The Digital Education Center (DEC) recognizes the importance of regular school attendance for a successful learning experience.  Like in a face-to-face school, online students participate in traditional instruction, course participation, learning experiences, and study to meet student academic goals.  The following are the attendance requirements and reporting methods for the DEC:

DEC grades K-6:  Attendance is tracked by participation in virtual classroom meetings, small group sessions, and as classwork is completed and turned in. If students do not show up to the live virtual class session (Zoom) on time, they will be marked tardy. Chronic tardiness will result in a parent, student, and teacher meeting. Parents are contacted when students do not log in for classroom sessions or small group work.  Before 10-day drop notices are sent, we contact parents concerning student absences.

DEC grades 7-10:  Attendance is reported weekly for each synchronous grade-level class: Language Arts, Math, Science and Mentoring. Each student will be required to attend weekly synchronous sessions in those classes unless he/she is on track or ahead of schedule in those classes in Edgenuity by Friday at noon. Weekly mentor sessions are required for all students, regardless of student progress in Edgenuity classes.

DEC grades 11-12 and all Snow College students:  Attendance will be reported based on student attendance in their weekly mentoring class.  Weekly mentor sessions are required.

Ten-day rule:  By law, students who are unexcused for ten consecutive school days are dropped from school rolls.  The parent/guardian must re-enroll their student in school and meet with a teacher, counselor, or administrator to establish an attendance plan.

Academic Probation:  Students with three weeks (non-consecutive) of unexcused absences in an academic quarter will be placed on academic probation.

Special Education Attendance:  (only if your student has an IEP)

  • Attendance at special education sessions directly impacts students’ ability to progress toward their Individualized Education Program goals.
  • Planned absences should be reported 24 hours in advance to each special education provider scheduled. We understand that unforeseen circumstances arise, such as illness or emergencies, but ask that you please notify your child’s provider(s) as soon as possible if your child will be absent.

● Students will be marked tardy if logging on for class after 10 minutes.

For classes with one student, students will be marked with an “unexcused absence” if the teacher has waited for them to join their online class for 10 minutes without prior notice.
